just want to learn a bit more. So everyone is invited. The course runs
from Late-September until Easter the following year. For more info,
contact Fr Dave at the parish office.
Welcome to St Benedict's Parish and Eucharistic
Centre
St Benedict's Parish
"St Benedict's Catholic Community aims to be
a caring and effective community committed to outreach and service,
where each person is valued and their gifts are acknowledged."
Narrabundah is one of Canberra's oldest
suburbs. You can still see some of the original worker's cottages that
housed the first builders of our National Captial. After being part of
Queanbean parish, and later St Christopher's; St Benedict's Parish was
formally established in 1962. Mass was celebrated in the school (opened
1955) until the Church building was completed in 1983. St benedict's
was designated an Archdiocesan Eucharistic Centre in 1998.
Missionaries of God's Love
St Benedict's is under the pastoral care of the Missionaries of God's
Love (MGL), a new community, founded from the Disciples of Jesus
Community in Canberra in 1986. MGL brothers and sisters serve in
various ministries in the parish. The Disciples of Jesus also hold
regular youth and family gatherings at St Benedict's.
Parish Pastoral Council
St Benedict's Pastoral Council, which sits monthly, consists of 10
members including representatives of parish ministries, the Parish
Priest, the School Principle and the parish in general. The aim of the
PPC is to promote a caring and effective commuity that is committed to
outreach and service of others.
The RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of
Adults) is for people seeking to become Caholic and learn more about
the faith. The program runs from October to Easter.
Supports and builds community among senior parishioners through social
and spiritual acivities.

School of Iconography
It is 6 full day or 12 half
day sessions each semester on Saturdays.
Cell
Groups
were
introduced
into
the parish in 2006. Groups meetings are
held in different locations across southern Canberra, Tuggeranong and
Queanbeyan. A cell group usually meets fortnightly for about an hour
& a half, the structure of the meeting includes prayer, scripture,
a talk from the PP and sharing. A group would normally grow and
multiply over time. Cell groups are a valued part of parish life; they
provide an opportunity for people to meet, support each other and grow
in faith. They are a welcoming community to newcomers and provide a
great place to introduce people to the faith of the parish. Further
information or if you wish to join a group, speak to Fr Ben or contact Bob

Called and Gifted
The Called and Gifted Workshop has been
developed as a tool for helping Catholics discern their spiritual
gifts. The program helps participants sort through their life
experiences to identify patterns that may indicate a charism. The
Called and Gifted Workshop is suitable for all Christians seeking to
deepen their relationship with God. It is also helpful for those
seeking direction in changing circumstances.
