The Vision of the Eucharistic Centre

"A Missionary Eucharistic Communion under the Grace of the Holy Spirit"

The Missionaries of God’s Love were commissioned by the Archbishop to build a Eucharistic Centre at St. Benedict’s Narrabundah on August 1st, 1998 . The Eucharistic Centre is a work distinct from the parish, but in some aspects overlaps with parish activities.

The vision of St. Benedict’s Eucharistic Centre is to facilitate a missionary Eucharistic communion under the grace of the New Pentecost.

The spirit of the Centre is to celebrate the mystery of the merciful love of Jesus, our Redeemer. We invite people to enter the mystery through adoration, spiritual renewal, and Eucharistic celebration. We encourage people to share the mystery through works of evangelization. We seek to live the mystery in communion with one another, and by reaching out to the disadvantaged and marginalised with welcome and hospitality. We foster trust in the mystery by ministry of healing in various forms.

Young Men of God

A new movement for young men Hosted by the Eucharistic Centre. A movement that seeks to inspire young men to a deeper conversion to Jesus and commitment with the Catholic Church. Through brotherhood with one another they would grow in a deeper personal faith and in greater strength of character. It seeks to bring to young men the power they need to take their rightful place in the world today. This would be a means of building strong lay leaders in the Church for the new millennium.

Life in the Spirit Seminar

The Eucharistic Centre seeks to draw people deeper into their faith through the 'Baptism in the Holy Spirit'. The centre holds Life in the Spirit Seminars a couple of times each year. Between Divine Mercy Sunday (19th April) and Pentecost Sunday (31st May) there will be a Life in the Spirit Seminar run during the 7pm mass.

Cell Groups

Cell Groups were introduced into the parish in 2006. Groups meetings are held in different locations across southern Canberra, Tuggeranong and Queanbeyan. A cell group usually meets fortnightly for about an hour & a half, the structure of the meeting includes prayer, scripture, a talk from the PP and sharing. A group would normally grow and multiply over time. Cell groups are a valued part of parish life; they provide an opportunity for people to meet, support each other and grow in faith. They are a welcoming community to newcomers and provide a great place to introduce people to the faith of the parish. Further information or if you wish to join a group, speak to Fr Dave or contact Bob O’Heir 6299 0240

Celebrate Recovery

This program combines the 12 step approach for healing of bad habits and addictions with the gospel proclamation of the Beatitudes. This should be an effective outreach, not only to those already attending Eucharistic Centre events, but also to those who are alienated or unchurched, offering healing through the word of God, testimony, and sharing.

Called and Gifted

The Called and Gifted Workshop has been developed  as a tool for helping Catholics discern their spiritual gifts. The program helps participants sort through their life experiences to identify patterns that may indicate a charism. The Called and Gifted Workshop is suitable for all Christians seeking to deepen their relationship with God. It is also helpful for those seeking direction in changing circumstances.
